Rovers Welcome New Coach and Farewell Tel

23 May 2016 Written by HRSC

Hamersley Rovers are pleased to announce the appointment of club legend Paul Keen who returns to take the Premier Reserve Team coaching position.

Paul brings a wealth of knowledge of the game with a distinguished playing career as well as having coached at youth level in the State League.

Paul was one of our top players in the late 90s and early 2000s winning Club Player of the Year in 1996, as well as being recognised with WA State Team honours.

We have delighted to have Paul back at the club and hope it is a long term reunion.

Hamersley Rovers would also like to say a huge thank you to departing Assistant Coach Tel Stupple who reluctantly stepped down last week due to work related reasons.

Tel has been with the club since 2011, initially joining as Reserve Team coach, but stepping into the First Team job mid-way through the season where he helped guide the club back to the Premier League with a five game winning streak which culminated in a last gasp 2-1 win over Stirling Panthers to secure promotion.

Taking a break in 2012, after the arrival of his second child, he resumed the Reserve Team coach role in 2013 and 2014 but in both years finished the season as First Team Coach, helping save the club from relegation in 2014 by winning the final three games of the season.

Hopefully Tel will back in the coaching saddle in the not too distant future and will be welcomed back with open arms by all associated with Hamersley Rovers.
